Mischa Rakier

In his drawings, animations, spatial works and site-specific installations Mischa Rakier (1970) researches different modes of interaction with cultural phenomena, often in relation to a specific local context. Many of his works deal with the act of mediatisation and different models of presentation.

His work is exhibited nationally and internationally and is part of various government, corporate and private collections. In 2010 Mischa Rakier was winner of the Vermeulen Brauckman Art Prize. One of his recent public art works – a war memorial commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam and the 4 en 5 mei comité – is situated near the Gelderlandplein in the Gijsbrecht van Aemstelpark, Buitenveldert, Amsterdam.
